Organized in a perfect manner by the “Federation Algerienne de Bodybuilding, Fitness & Powerlifting” (FABBPL) chaired by Mr. Moussa Messaour; the 2017 Mediterranean & African Championships took place, recent 26th to 29th April, in Oran: a marvelous city that represent perfectly a country who loves sport and Bodybuilding.

In front of a polite but noisy audience with more than 1.500 supporters, the 54 Algerian athletes in the contest proved how important is this sport in the country and the amazing level that they reached, in the last years, under the leadership of president Moussa Messaour. The Algerian team won the Best Team Award and up to 28 gold medals in both events (Mediterranean and African) including the overall in Classic Bodybuilding -with fantastic athlete Chennanr Abdelhakim– and 7 out of 8 categories in Bodybuilding, except… except Super Heavyweight category where balanced and aesthetic Egyptian Ahmed Salem Elsayed took the gold medal and, later on, the overall title that was presented by IFBB Vice-president for Africa –Mr. Adel Fahim El Sayed– and Bodybuilding star, Kevin Levrone, who was in Algeria offering a crowded seminar.

The Algerian Minister of Youth and Sport, His Excellency El Hadi Ouid Ali; attended the championships, joined by Mr. Adel Fahim El Sayed and Mr. Abdelghani Zealand -Wali of Oran-, as the main politic and sport personalities, surrounded by hundred of supporters, in elegant and modern venue “Hotel Meridien”.
