Locali’s tagline – Eat Smart. All Day™ reflects the company’s unwavering commitment to empowering individuals with the ability to eat in the wisest way possible in order to achieve optimal personal wellness. Known for their award-winning menu of soups, salads, sandwiches and smoothies, Locali is a natural food market and deli with an emphasis on vegan, gluten-free, organic and non-GMO fare. Their sister brand, Localita & The Badasserie, is a vegan only fast food restaurant. “We are excited to begin offering franchises for our unique concepts of Locali and Localita this month. This is something we’ve been planning for years. Franchise Creator, a franchise consulting firm in Miami, Florida, worked closely with us to turn our unique concept into a franchise program, ready for expansion,” said Greg Horos, Co-Founder and COO of Locali Healthy Convenience.
Locali currently operates three locations in California located in Hollywood, Venice and DTLA. All three locations are constantly bustling throughout the day with a diverse customer base that includes influencers, celebrities and community members passionate about healthy living.
The original Locali Healthy Convenience in Hollywood was founded by Melissa Rosen and Greg Horos in 2009 as the first small format hybrid organic deli and natural foods market of its kind. In 2012, they opened a new concept, as their second location, in the form of a vegan fast food experience called Localita & The Badasserie in the heart of L.A.’s Downtown Fashion District. In 2014, the third Locali location opened in Venice, mere blocks from the iconic Rose and Lincoln intersection and one of the nation’s highest-performing Whole Foods.
According to Horos, their expansion plans are based on a belief that there needs to be a healthier and sustainability-focused franchise opportunity for small business owners in the market place that makes healthy and planet-friendly foods more easily-accessible. “To that end, we hope to ultimately offer a reduced revenue sharing model to franchisees that agree to open in historic food deserts– urban areas offering limited access to good-quality, fresh restaurant and grocery options,” added Rosen.
According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 86 percent of franchises opened within the last five years were still under the same ownership and 97 percent are still open for business. Further, healthy deli options are a vastly under-fulfilled sector of the food service industry. Locali Franchises will be provided with comprehensive training, a winning structure, and all of the tools necessary to succeed.
While vegan and vegetarian options are the most popular on the menu Rosen created, the Hollywood and Venice locations also serve turkey, chicken, tuna and dairy cheeses. There is something for everyone. “We are really proud of the distinct and delicious flavor profiles we have created in our menu selections, especially with our vegan and gluten-free options. What makes us special is that anyone can get substitutions to fit their dietary restrictions, and still essentially enjoy the same great sandwich experience an omnivore friend is having, so there’s no sacrifice,” said Ms. Rosen, “Our menu items are nutrient dense, so there is a real sense that you’re having more than just a sandwich or smoothie. It’s a fulfilling meal in a convenient form.”
Locali Healthy Convenience isn’t just growing through their corporate and franchise units alone. The Locali Healthy Kitchen offers an increasingly popular assortment of pre-packaged, fresh “Grab N’ Go” salads that are available through a number of grocery outlets, fitness centers, juice bars and coffee shops throughout Southern California.
In addition, Locali has begun placing healthy vending machines in strategic locations in Los Angeles. Their first machine is located at the high-foot traffic Hollywood & Highland mall near Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.
